Spiderweb Shaker Card for Halloween

Halloween AND shaker cards?? Yes please!

I really feel good after making a shaker card. They are just so interactive that adults and kids enjoy them.

Let me show you what I did to make this spiderweb shaker card!

Spiderweb Shaker Halloween Card

Supplies:

Steps:

1. Place your spiderweb over your marbled paper  (4″ x 5 1/4″) and trace the outline. Cut out with your craft knife.

2. Adhere a window sheet to the back of your marbled paper to cover the hole. Stick foam adhesive strips around the hole, and add sequins and glitter. Peel off the backing for the foam strips and adhere the same size (4″ x 5 1/4″) orange cardstock over it.

3. Flip the shaker over (shake and test it of course!) and glue your spiderweb die-cut on the front of the window sheet.

4. Stamp your halloween sentiment on a scrap of black cardstock and emboss with the glow-in-the-dark embossing powder (I LOVE this stuff!), and adhere it to the front of the card.

5. Cut your black card stock to 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ and fold in half. Glue your shaker to your black card front.

Spooky Halloween Card using the Stampin Up Sheltering Tree set!

I believe you can make great holiday cards from your “everyday” stamps.

Recently, I used the Beautiful You stamp set from Stampin Up to make a fabulous halloween card. And you can bet I’ll be posting more halloween ideas for the next couple of weeks, so I hope you hit the follow button if you haven’t already!

This is yet another example of using everyday stamps for great holiday cards:

Using the Sheltering Tree stamp and the grass from the Enjoy Life set, I was able to make a spooky halloween card, and this card turned out spookier than I expected!

Supplies:

Spooky Steps:

  1. Cut the black cardstock in half to 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ and fold in half for your card base.
    • Cut a 4″ x 1″ strip and reserve for later.
  2. Cut the white cardstock to 5 1/4″ x 4″.
  3. Stamp the grass from the Enjoy Life set on the white piece in black, and heat emboss. Stamp and emboss your halloween sentiment, too.
  4. Sponge a few smudges of Berry Burst on the white piece, over the embossed grass and sentiment, then sponge Gorgeous Grape over the pink.
  5. Stamp your sheltering tree (without the leaves of course!) in black.
  6. Adhere the black strip below the grass, and adhere the ribbon over it and around the back.
  7. Adhere stamped piece to the black card base. Add bat stickers (or stamp them)!

Paper Pumpkin August 2018 Alternatives: 15 Blissful Blooms from One Kit!

I get so excited when my paper pumpkin kit is in the mail! Stampin Up ships the kits on the same date each month, but I can’t help checking the tracking updates until it arrives on my doorstep. (Read to the bottom to find out about a $5 Kit Flash Sale!!)

Normally, I rip open the box (carefully because I also re-use the sturdy boxes), clear my desk, and lay out all the pretty papers and stamps and embellishments and ink. Maybe let the colors and theme simmer a day or two to come up with something creative.

But this time, with the gorgeous blooms in the kit and the Blackberry Bliss ink spot, I knew I would have to wait a little extra time to sit down and do these cards justice. So this post comes a bit late…Halloween took over my desk and this set deserved a little extra time.

I probably could have made more than 15 cards from this kit, but I really love how these styles turned out. The stamps let you create so many more projects with the addition of some cardstock. I did this with this card:

Don’t forget you can use the leftover vellum sheet as a stencil!

I used the vellum sheets with the leaves as a stencil and used Lemon Lime Twist and Mossy Meadow to sponge leaves around the edges of white cardstock. I stamped a few of the blooms using Blackberry Bliss and Flirty Flamingo, fussy cut them, and added all of them using dimensionals to the card.

The Silver Embossing was difficult to capture with my light (the contrast is much greater in real life!), but the sympathy sentiment stamp fits perfectly in the Everyday Label Punch!  With a little ribbon and extra vellum leaves, I added them using dimensionals to the card.

Another card I made is very similar to the suggested kit card, but…

Sometimes a small and easy addition can really make a card feel more personal.

The suggested card is lovely to begin with, but I wanted to add a little embellishment, so I sponged the incluced Blackberry Bliss around the edge and added a scrap of ribbon behind the sentiment tag.

If you want to check out other paper pumpkin alternatives I’ve recently posted, check out February 2018April 2018, June 2018, or a throwback to June 2014.

I find myself reaching for previous paper pumpkin stamp sets with many of my projects. If you would like an easy way to dip your toes into the world of card-making and paper crafting, a Flash Sale is happening October 8-10 2018!!! This is the time to get these all-inclusive craft kits delivered to your door!

Click the subscribe button and make sure you type in that promo code, and you’ll get your October box for $5! If you choose to stick around for November, you’ll snag the special holiday kit, too! Last years was fantastic, and I can’t wait to see what is in the box this year! I would be honored to be your demonstrator, and will help you make the most of your kit!!
