Seagull Porthole Card

Let’s make this Seagull Porthole Card! With a die-cut porthole opening, it shows the fun seagull on the inside eating french fries while incorporating it into the fun front of the card! To make it even easier, it uses a pre-made notecard and just a couple colors.

I chose red and yellow cardstocks for this card as it reminds me of the ketchup and mustard that we eat with our fries. Plus, it’s considered an appetizing color combination!

While this isn’t officially a “fun fold” card, I think the die-cut porthole to see to the inside of the card is a unique way to add interest to your cards.

Using a pre-made notecard is a great way to make some fun cards quickly and easily, so let’s try it with this card.

How to make a Seagull Porthole Card:

Cut your cardstock:

• Daffodil Delight
  • 5-1/2” x 4-1/4”
  • 1” x 5”
• Real Red
  • 5-1/4”x 4”
  • 1-1/4” x 5”
• One Basic White notecard (7-1/2” x 5”, folded in half at 3-3/4”)

Stamp and Die-Cut the front of the notecard:

• With black ink, stamp the flying birds in the upper left side on the front of the notecard.
• Next, randomly stamp the French fries along the yellow strip with black ink, and then adhere it to the red strip. Then adhere this strip about an inch above the bottom of the notecard front.
• To finish the front, die-cut a medium circle (or use a punch) from the right side of the yellow and red strip to create the porthole. You may need to run it through a few times since it is cutting through 3 layers.

Stamp inside the porthole and put it all together:

• Using black ink, stamp the seagull on the inside of the card so it shows through the porthole. Color it using your favorite real red and daffodil delight pencils or markers.
• Lastly, stamp your sentiment on the inside towards the left of the card so it does not show through the porthole when the card is closed.

TIP: If you aren’t comfortable trying to stamp it through the porthole, consider placing your un-inked stamp where you want it, then use the stamparatus or a large block to line it up.
