Ombre Stamping Technique
The Ombre Stamping Technique makes your card look fun and once you make a card with this sketch, you’ll be hooked! Switch out the designer papers for your favorite ones, and stamp with coordinating inks. The easy steps for this technique is here.
This Three Column Sketch makes it so easy to use up those scraps of designer series paper that I know we all have, but aren’t sure what to do with. Whichever scraps you want to use, just cut them to fit and make a lot of backgrounds to use!

After I made this card, I started cutting up some of my other DSP scraps and paired them with coordinating stamps and ink colors.
No matter which colors and papers you choose, you’ll love this technique!

How to recreate this Ombre Stamping Technique:
Cut your cardstock:
- Lemon Lolly: 8-1/2” x 5-1/2”, scored at 4-1/4”
- Pretty Peacock: 4” x 5-1/4”
- DSP: Use 3 different coordinating columns
- (2) 1” x 5”
- (1) 1.5” x 5”
- Whisper White: 2” diamond for sentiment
Create the background:
- One at a time, adhere each of the 3 strips of designer series paper to the Pretty Peacock layer, leaving 1/4” between each column. I found it easiest to lay them out and then glue one down at a time.
- If you are adding any extra slices of coordinating paper or ribbon over the 3 columns (I used the back of one of the papers), Adhere that down now. Trim off any excess.
- Next, adhere this layer to your Lemon Lolly card front.
Ombre Stamping:
- Ink the top of your sentiment stamp with Pretty Peacock, and ink the bottom of the stamp with Berry Burst, ensuring the center is inked. The colors will blend together nicely for an Ombre effect.
- Then, stamp your sentiment onto the die-cut diamond with even pressure.
- Lastly, use dimensionals to pop up this Ombre stamped sentiment.
TIP: For ombre stamping, if you have small ink spots (like those that come in Paper Pumpkin kits), use them! Their smallness makes it easier to determine where your ink will be on your stamp!
