Square Pillar Birthday Card with Hugging Badgers
This Square Pillar Birthday Card is a fun fold made with two of the newest In-Colors and the Hearts & Hugs stamp set! And it still folds fold to fit in a regular envelope. See here how to make one, too!
You may have seen this new style of fun fold card, also called a Side Tower, and I like to expand what can be made with it, and then share an easy way to create it. The measurements and directions are below!
This special fold lets the card stand up and gives a special place to show off your fun designer series paper (as well as those adorable hugging badgers colored to match)!

How to make this Square Pillar Birthday Card:
Cut your cardstock:
- Summer Splash
- Cardbase: 5-1/2” x 8-1/2”, scored at 1/2”, 1-3/4”, 3”, and 4-1/4”
- Greetings: 3-3/4” x 1-3/4”
- Petunia Pop
- Card Flap: 2-3/4” x 10-1/2”, scored at 5-1/4”
- Pillar Decor: (2)- 1” x 5-1/4”, can substitute DSP or Glimmer Paper
- Basic White
- Card Flap Inside: 2-1/2” x 5″
- Greetings: 3-1/2” x 1-1/2”
- Scrap for Featured animal
Decorate the Cardbase:
- Next, attach strips to the pillar, and fold on the score lines. Attach adhesive (I used tear tape) along the 1/2″ flap, and fold the card to attach it together while still being able to fold flat.
- Then, adhere the 2-3/4″ card flap to the right side of your card base.
Create your feature:
- Stamp your greeting on the white strip using Summer Splash ink, and adhere this to your coordinating strip (I used the glimmer paper).
- Stamp your animals and color them with coordinating colors. Die-cut them out and attach it to the left side of your greeting.
- Lastly, adhere this to the center of the pillar so it’s only attached on one side and can be folded flat with the card.
