Mad Scientist Halloween Card

Nothing says Halloween and scary movies like the laboratory of a mad scientist! This halloween card features tubes and flasks filled with weird materials and some blood spilling out!

Think outside the box when it comes to creating cards for different holidays. I find it helps to increase the versatility of your favorite stamp sets!

My science friends will find this card perfect to celebrate, especially with the possibility of “radioactive materials” and “blood” in the containers.

Tipping a few of the flasks and tubes over makes it even more scary! Lab safety has not been followed!

How to make this Mad Scientist Halloween Card:

Cut your cardstock:

  • Pumpkin Pie
    • 8-1/2” x 5-1/2”, folded at 4-1/4” for your card base
    • 1” x 5-1/2” for the banner
  • Basic Black: 4” x 5-1/4”
  • Basic White: Scraps for the science flasks
  • Cherry Cobbler: Scrap for the spilled “blood”

Create some Science Flasks and Tubes:

  • Stamp the flask stamp a couple times on your white scraps with black ink. Color in with Stampin’ Blends markers as shown. I prefer the blends here instead of regular markers because it’s easier to blend it all together and make it look like liquid.
  • Fussy cut out individual flasks and tubes with scissors.

Put it together (and knock a flask over!):

  • Emboss the basic black layer with the Stripes & Splatters folder. Since the folder is more narrow, you can run it through your machine first with it on the top half, and then second on the bottom half. Don’t worry, but the orange banner will cover up any line that you see, so go ahead and glue it down across the black layer.
  • Next, attach you flasks and tubes along this orange banner. I was able to fit 7, but use as many as you’d like. Don’t forget to adhere one on it’s side so the “blood” will “spill out.”
  • Use a pencil to draw the blood spill so that it comes to a point at the top (from the flask) and cut it out. Stamp your sentiment in the middle. Then glue it the black layer so that the point is also attached right below the flask opening.
  • Lastly, adhere the layer to the front of your orange card base, and use Wink of Stella to add some glitter to the “blood.”
