Skunk wearing a Christmas Sweater — Get ready early for the Holidays!

I’m back with a card for the Crafting By Designs team and their “Get Ready For Christmas” challenge with a card featuring a skunk in a holiday sweater!

While it may be difficult to think of the holiday season months before it arrives, it can be very rewarding to get at least a few of your cards done early. Therefore, when the season gets closer, it won’t suprise us as much! (But it’ll still surprise us, right?)

Our sponsor for this challenge is A Day for Daisies, and I chose the “Christmas Sweater” digital stamp. Who doesn’t love a skunk??

Below I describe the steps I took to create this card. In addition, I included an important die-cutting technique that you’ll find useful and versatile!

Steps to create this Christmas Card:

The skunk:

  • Print out the Christmas skunk onto white cardstock.
  • Color using your favorite pencils.
  • I used Prismacolor pencils and then added a little Wink of Stella to add a little dimension to the white of the tail.

TECHNIQUE: To die-cut the circle while letting the skunk tail flair over the top, cut down to the top of the tail, and cut a few inches each way along the outline. Place the stitched circle framelit around the skunk, but pull the tail over the top through the center to ensure it doesn’t get cut out.

To create the tag:

  • Stamp the sentiment using versamark ink.
  • Sprinkle with white embossing powder and heat until it melts.
  • Adhere it to white ribbon.

Finish the card with details:

  • Wrap the ribbon around the back of your christmas cardstock and layer the other card stocks.
  • Adhere the skunk with dimensionals.

Needed Supplies:
