Buffalo Plaid Hearts! Background stamp technique!

Today I wanted to share a versatile background stamp technique. I used to shy away from very large background stamps, but there are more ways to use them!

When designing a new card, I like to first create pieces and elements. Specifically, elements that make me happy.
Buffalo plaid, no matter where I see it, always puts a smile on my face. This pattern needs to be used on some projects as an element!

This short tutorial will demonstrate how to make these red buffalo check hearts. I’ll be using these beauties for my next post, so check back in a couple days (or find it the easy way and hit that follow button!) for a project featuring these hearts!

Background Stamp Technique:

  1. Cut your red cardstock to 5 1/2″ x 4 1/4.”
  2. Ink up your Buffalo Check stamp with black ink, and stamp your paper.
    • PRO TIP: If you don’t own a stamparatus, there are two ways to stamp with a large background stamp. The traditional way: Paper on table, bring the stamp down onto the paper and press evenly. OR: Lay the stamp FACE UP on the table, ink it, and place your paper on top of it. Rub the paper lightly but evenly to give a good impression.

  3. Run the plaid sheet through your big shot with your heart die. The Magnetic Platform isn’t necessary, but I find it a lot easier to use with dies than the standard platform. I’m frugal, but think this was a VERY useful buy for me.

Supplies:

What will YOU make with these hearts?? Or will you try this technique with a different background stamp or different die cut or a punch? I’d love to know, so please leave a comment with your thoughts.
