Proud Lion Card

A Proud Lion Card with a repeated stamped background looks like it has its whole pride behind him, so this is a great card for a graduation! I wrote out the tutorial here, so I hope you make one with me.

When I saw this stamp set, I knew I needed it. A dragon, a lion, AND a lemur? With punny sayings, too! The Stampin’ Up online exclusives this season are amazing and definitely worth a look.

The details of the lion on the Proud Lion card make me laugh! His little teeth sticking out are so adorable!

The technique of stamping a repeated background makes your own designer series paper, but it can also help your feature to stand out – in this case, it’s the colored feature lion!

See below for how to create a Proud Lion Card:

How to make this Proud Lion Card:

Cut your cardstock:

  • Cajun Craze
    • 5-1/2” x 8-1/2”, folded at 4-1/4”
    • 3-3/4” x 5”
  • Pecan Pie: 4” x 5-1/4”
  • Very Vanilla: 1” strip for the sentiment; scrap for the lion

Stamp the background:

  • On the Cajun Craze layer, use Pecan Pie ink to stamp the lion randomly as a background. No need to color him in.
  • Next, adhere this layer to your Pecan Pie layer, and attach those both to the front of your Cajun Craze cardbase.

Add the Proud Lion:

  • Using Pecan Pie ink, stamp the lion on a scrap of the Vanilla cardstock. Color him with the watercolor pencils, and blend it with the blender pens. Then, fussy cut him out.
  • Next, use the Cajun Craze ink to stamp the sentiment on your strip of Vanilla cardstock. Lastly, adhere it to the front of your card using dimensionals and trim off any excess.
