Inspiration Dragon Watercolor Card

This Inspiration Dragon Watercolor Card is made with one of my favorite color combinations! Combine that with a some embossing, a little watercoloring, and a dragon, you’ll enjoy making this encouraging card, too!

When I saw this stamp set, I knew I needed it. A dragon, a lion, AND a lemur? With punny sayings, too! The Stampin’ Up online exclusives this season are amazing and definitely worth a look.

The decision to make the dragon in an ethereal way or an intense way was easy when I started coloring it. It’s too cute to not use cool colors with a little watercoloring.

How to make an Inspiration Dragon Watercolor Card:

Cut your cardstock:

Highland Heather: 5-1/2” x 8-1/2” folded at 4-1/4”, scrap for sentiment
Summer Splash: 4” x 5-1/4”
Azure Afternoon: Die-Cut or punched circle, scrap for sentiment
Watercolor paper: 3-3/4” x 5”
Basic White: Die-Cut Circle, scrap for sentiment

Emboss and Watercolor the Background:

Ink up the confetti stamp from the Party Piggy set with versamark and stamp it randomly on the watercolor paper. Sprinkle white embossing powder on it, tap off the excess, and heat until it’s shiny.
With your large waterpainter, swipe a bit of purple ink and paint it over one side of the embossed watercolor paper. If it’s not dark enough, grab a little more ink and swipe again. Then repeat this step with each of your ink colors. Let it dry before adhering this to the Summer Splash layer.

TIP: When embossing white on white, lean it into the light to make it easier to see prior to watercoloring.

Stamp and Put it Togetherr:

Stamp your dragon, color it in with coordinating colors, and die-cut it out. Layer it with the Azure Circle and then adhere it to your watercolor paper.
With Azure Afternoon ink, stamp your sentiment on the white scrap strip, adhere it to the Azure strip, and lastly adhere that to the Heather Highland strip.
Wrap 6” of Summer Splash ribbon around the bottom 1/3 of the watercolor layer, and next adhere the sentiment over it. Lastly, put this layer on your card front.
