Paper Pumpkin July Alternatives Shaker and Fun-Fold Painted Petals Cards

Paper Pumpkin July alternatives using the Painted Petals kit can be very diverse and easy to make! Let’s make a few into shaker cards and a few into a fun fold featuring the gorgeous flowers.

This kit lets you make beautiful cards, even if you follow the directions. In particular, the included card bases have pretty colors on the BACK, so I folded them to see it on the front for the fun-fold cards and cut the others apart to use on the front for the shakers.

Making an alternative is easier than you might think. You could change up the colors, add a ribbon, or make a card for a different occasions!

I love changing up the kits — creating things different than the intended projects! This time I made Shaker cards AND Fun-Fold cards.

How to make this Paper Pumpkin July Alternative Shaker:

Cut your cardstock:

• Cardbase in the kit: cut each side to 4-1/8” x 5-3/8”
• Basic White: 8-1/2” x 5-1/2”, folded at 4-1/4”

Create Card Front:

• Using a thin strip of liquid glue around the “frame” only, glue the die-cut flowers to the colored back of the card.
• Next, carefully use an X-acto knife to cut out the dark space of the card back behind the flowers. Don’t separate the flowers from the frame. Then add a sentiment to the front.
• From the back, add a window sheet cut slightly larger than the hole you cut out. Then add foam adhesive strips along the edges of the window, without leaving space where they intersect.

Add glitter or sequins to make it a shaker:

• Add the watercolor card front to the front your new white cardbase.
• Lastly, place your choice of glitter or sequins on the card front where the window will show them. Then adhere your window sheet with flowers on top. Shake!
