Hamster Hearts Birthday Card

A Hamster Hearts Birthday Card uses the new Hearts & Hugs stamp and dies bundle along with the Sending Love dies. It has this cute little guy handing an envelope to your recipient for birthday hugs! Find here the easy tutorial with the secret to wrapping his arms around the envelope.

I know I don’t always make tutorials for “clean and simple” cards, but this one is fun with the hamster arms holding the envelope! The arms aren’t wide enough, but in this tutorial I tell you how it’s done!

A die-cut set of hearts that show another color through to the front, a great color combination, AND a way to make the hamster arms long enough to fold around the mini envelope! This is it!

See below for how to create a Hamster Hearts Birthday Card:

How to make a Hamster Hearts Birthday Card:

Cut your cardstock:

  • Gorgeous Grape: 8-1/2” x 5-1/2”, folded at 4-1/4”, plus mini scrap for die-cut heart
  • Melon Mambo: 4” x 5-1/4”. Plus scrap for envelope
  • Basic White: 3-3/4” x 5”
  • Smoky Slate: Scrap to stamp hamster twice

Create Card Front:

  • Using Gorgeous Grape ink, stamp your birthday sentiment at the bottom of your white cardstock. Then die-cut the hearts from the coordinating Hearts & Hugs dies from the top of your white cardstock. This will let the pink hearts show through.
  • Next, adhere this white piece to your large Melon Mambo cardstock and then adhere that to the front of your Gorgeous Grape card.

Hamster Dance:

  • Die-cut the envelope from the Sending Love dies using a Melon Mambo scrap. Fold it and glue it to stay closed. From the small scrap of Gorgeous Grape, die-cut out one small heart and glue it to the envelope.
  • Stamp two hamsters on Smoky Slate cardstock and die-cut both out. Color the nose of one of the hamsters with your Melon Mambo marker and glue it to the back of the envelope. The arms aren’t wide enough so the next step will help with that!
  • With the other hamster, cut across the body to separate the arms. You won’t need the head or the feet. Cut the arms apart and glue each of the arms to the front of the envelope (stamped side facing forward), one on each side. I folded mine around the envelope for a more realistic look.
  • Lastly, attach your envelope-wielding hamster to the center of your card using dimensionals.
