Back to School Chalkboard Card

The heat of the summer is here, and before you know it, it’s going to be back-to-school time again! One of my favorite kids is so smart, just like her mom who’s been one of my best friends since we were kids. So I want to send her a Back to School Chalkboard card for an extra boost of confidence to start off the new year.

I designed my card following the Joy of Sets Tic Tac Toe Challenge grid for August, created by Kaylin. Plaid is my favorite, so I chose the bottom row of Plaid, Red, and School.

This month, we paired with up with Double Trouble challenge for some bonus fun! I’m playing along and I included Thing 1 Trouble Maker by adding in the yellow circles, and also Thing 3 Twisted Sister with the chalkboard, which completed another column for my card (circle, emboss, school)! Visit their site for the details — it made this great challenge even more fun, so I hope you join in.

First, I created a red plaid background for the stitched yellow circles and encouraging chalkboard surrounded by matching pens. I tried to make this card scream “I love school!”

Do you wanna make your own chalkboard? See below for how I created it!

I’m also playing along with the Just Add Ink Challenge – #468 Just Add “C”. I added a Chalkboard for my focal point!

These are all fabulous cards, Laura! Your back to school, chalkboard one is so clever vibrant and I love the gold star sentiment, so fun and encouraging for the kids heading back to the classrooms. Thanks for sharing with us at Just Add Ink this week.

I appreciate that, Chantell! When I first started the card, I wasn’t sure if the circles would be too much lol. 🙂

Well, of course, as Thing 1 aka Trouble Maker I have to mention the Buffalo Plaid (as a Buffalonian) and your choice of the circle design paper are a great background for Twisted Sister’s chalkboard and sentiment…fun school card. Thanks for your support and participation in Double Trouble’s challenge as a DT member of Joy of Sets. Hope you join us for future fun challenges.
